It was fifty years ago- the #1 single in the US starting the week of August 3rd, 1968 and staying at #1 for two weeks was “Hello, I Love You” by The Doors. This was The Doors second and final #1- a year earlier “Light My Fire” went to the top. In their career The Doors had only eight Top 40 hits. “Hello, I Love You” appeared on The Door’s third album “Waiting For The Sun.”
“Hello, I Love You” was an older song- before they were The Doors when they were known as Rick and The Ravens- in 1965 they had a demo of the song they were shopping around trying to get a record deal. The song was written by Jim Morrison. Morrison wrote the song one afternoon while he and Ray ‘me and Jim, man” Manzarek watched a girl walk down the beach.
