
It was fifty years ago today- October 2, 1968 the French artist Marcel Duchamp died of heart failure at the age of 81. Duchamp was one of the revolutionary artists of the 20th century. Among his most famous works were-Nude Descending A Staircase No.2, Fountain, The Bride Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors-Even, and Etant donnes. He was also a notable chess player and writer. The art movements he was associated with- Cubism, Dada and conceptional art.
