The Beatles Song of the Day is It’s All Too Much. It’s All Too Much was one of the four new Beatles songs to appear on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack. It was written by George Harrison. It’s All Too Much was heavily influenced by George’s LSD experiences. George said it was ‘written in a childlike manner from realizations that appeared during and after some LSD experiences and which were later confirmed in meditation.” After going to India and meeting the Maharishi- George would view his LSD experience as a signpost not a destination. It’s All Too Much- the critics over the years are very mixed on it- some call it a psychedelic classic, that if it had been on Sgt. Pepper it would have been even a greater album. Others find it mindless drivel. George Harrison: lead vocal, Hammond organ, lead guitar, backing vocal, handclaps: John Lennon: harmony vocal, lead guitar, handclaps: Paul McCartney: harmony vocal, bass guitar, cowbell, handclaps: Ringo Starr: drums, tambourine: David Mason and three uncredited session players; trumpets: Paul Harvey: bass clarinet. And the more I go inside, the more there is to see
The love that’s shining all around you
Everywhere, it’s what you make
For us to take, it’s all too much
Makes no difference where you are or where you’d like to be
The love that’s shining all around here
All the world’s a birthday cake
So take a piece but not too much
Show me that I’m everywhere, and get me home for tea
A love that’s shining all around here
The more I am, the less I know
And what I do is all too much
The love that’s shining all around you
Everywhere, it’s what you make
For us to take, it’s all too much
I love the guitar to open it and the organ is great…
“It’s All Too Much” is my favorite George song
