- The Beatles Song of the Day is Good Night. Good Night appears on The White Album- a lot of people at first thought the song was surely written by Paul McCartney but in fact it was written by John Lennon and sung by Ringo Starr. John said that Good Night was written for his son Julian- as Beautiful Boy would be later written for his son Sean. It is the final song on The White Album- right after Revolution #9. In the studio John asked George Martin to arrange it like Hollywood. He would later say that it was probably overlush. Paul has since commented that he believes John didn’t record this song himself because it didn’t fit his image at the time. Ringo is the only Beatle to appear on the song. Ringo Starr: lead vocal: George Martin: celesta, orchestral arrangements: The Mike Sammes Singers: backing vocals: Orchestra: twelve violins, three violas, three cellos, three flutes, clarinet, horn, vibraphone, double bass, harp.

Now it’s time to say good night
Good night sleep tight
Now the sun turns out his light
Good night sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Good night sleep tight
Now the sun turns out his light
Good night sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Close your eyes and I’ll close mine
Good night sleep tight
Now the moon begins to shine
Good night sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Good night sleep tight
Now the moon begins to shine
Good night sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Close your eyes and I’ll close mine
Good night sleep tight
Now the sun turns out his light
Good night sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Good night sleep tight
Now the sun turns out his light
Good night sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Good night good night everybody
Everybody everywhere
Good night.
Everybody everywhere
Good night.

This is one of the few songs on the White Album that I’ll skip more than listen to… but saying that it’s grown on me through the years.
I wonder if there is any recordings of John singing it?
That would be interesting… There has to be a demo somewhere you would think
Maybe it will come out with the White Album remastering etc this fall!!
That would be great! You would think they would have quite a few demos since they were writing apart at that time
I am looking forward to it- should be some good stuff!!!
I know I’m warped for wanting it… but I want the full Helter Skelter!
why not that would be interesting put it out!
