It was twenty years ago today- Ol Blue Eyes- Francis Albert Sinatra passed away at the age of eighty-two. What can be said about Sinatra that hasn’t already been said? He has been gone twenty years but it seems like he is still here. His music is still being played, books continue to be published about his life and music. His movies are still on television. We will never see his like again.
I have been a Sinatra fan since I was a young. When I think of my favorite recording artists I usually think of what I listen to mostly- rock music but I do enjoy all styles of music so If I were going to make a list of favorites covering every genre I’d have to have Frank Sinatra very high on my list- easily Top 5.
I was fortunate enough to see Frank Sinatra in concert once in my life and it was late in his career/ life. May 16, 1991 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. Frank was seventy-five at the time and he was showing his age but I wasn’t expecting prime 1960’s Sinatra. He put on a good show- and it was great to see him and be able to say “I saw Frank in concert!” It was worth every dime.

I’m legitimately jealous you got to see him perform. Wow.
I feel that way about Tony Bennett. I saw him at the Sydney Opera House during 2012; he has since retired from touring I believe. I’m so pleased I was able to see/hear him; I’ve always been a fan.
Had I had that same opportunity with Frank Sinatra I would have snapped it up. Seems life’s path didn’t have that in store for me!!!
I was able to see Bennett back in the 90’s also- he was excellent. Glad you were able to see him too!
