“I think I’m gonna to be sad, I think it’s today, yeah “…On this day in 1965 The Beatles “Ticket To Ride” reached #1 on the US Billboard Top 100 chart. It was The Beatles eighth #1 in a little under a year and a half. “Ticket To Ride” was also the first Beatles song to go over the 3 minute mark. It was a song from the upcoming “Eight Arms To Hold You” movie that The Beatles were making. The movie title of course would be changed to “Help!”
I have to be honest, the first time I heard a version of this song was when my Dad was playing The Carpenter’s greatest hits and that moody melancholy version has stuck with me ever since
yes I forgot that The Carpenters covered it- sounds like a totally different song.
You know, I know Ringo’s drumming gets some deriding, but I love the rhythm on this song.
