Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a period of 12 months.
TODAY I LISTENED TO 4 DIFFERENT ALBUMS. TOTAL FOR 43 DAYS- 269. ON PACE FOR 2283.
- STEELY DAN: CAN’T BUY A THRILL: 1972: 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Except for “Reelin’ In The Years” and “Do It Again” the debut album from Steely Dan- sounds ordinary compared to their later work. Vocalist David Palmer [not THE David Palmer- future president during the Jack Bauer years} leaving after this album was a very good thing.
- TRENT WAGLER AND JAY LAPP: ADRIENNA VALENTINE: 2008: Wagler and Lapp the founding members of the Americana, roots group The Steel Wheels- sounding more like the Steel Wheels would sound in this one.
- TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS: DAMN THE TORPEDOES: 1979: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Petty joins the big leagues. His third album is a great one. Not a song on here that I don’t love.
- WARREN ZEVON: WARREN ZEVON: 1976: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Probably Warren’s best album from start to finish. A unique songwriter and personality.
1500 albums in a year! That’s crazy ambitious. Just crazy enough that I might have to consider it myself for next year 😉
It makes me listen to some cd’s in my collection that I have neglected. I need to spend a week just listening to stuff I haven’t listened to in years.
