On this day in 1985 Coca-Cola announced that it had changed its formula for Coke and released the New Coke. The response was a big thumbs down and they would go back to the original formula in less than three months.  There have been of course conspiracy theories that included that they knew what they were doing all along- that they changed it to get a big backlash- and publicity for the Coke product, driving up sales of the original product. I don’t think they were smart enough for that.

My Mount Rushmore of Favorite Soda Pops— Coke/ Dr. Pepper/ Orange Crush/ Mountain Dew… I quit drinking  soda pop in August 1998. For years I had dreams in which I was drinking pop- I had been a big soda pop drinker.
