On this day in 1956 the Soviet Union’s leader Nikita Khrushchev in a speech ‘On the Cult of Personality and its Consequences” denounced the cult of personality of Joseph Stalin. Wisely, Khrushchev waited until he was sure Stalin was good and dead for three years before denouncing him. Khrushchev was a survivor millions of Russians didn’t survive the terror of Uncle Joe. The 20th Century sure had their share of brutal leaders.
