On this day in 1938 Billie Holiday recorded “Strange Fruit” a song written by Abel Meeropol as a poem, the song exposed American racism, the lynching of African-Americans. In 1978 Billie Holiday’s version of the song was inducted into the Grammy’s Hall of Fame.
