Of all of the picks in the NFC – this is the one I have dreaded the most. I have no idea where SF will go with this pick. My gut says defense. I think that another pass catching TE like Tyler Eifert to pair up with Vernon Davis would create even more matchup problems against the niners. With the talent the Niners have on hand, this is a chance to upgrade positions.

The Niners have a lot of picks in this draft. Overall this is not one of the better draft classes in recent years, so I would think that the Niners probably try to parlay some of this years picks into more draft picks next season and beyond. As patient as the Niners have been over the last few seasons developing players they could take a flyer on a project type player here. But I also think that a narrow Super Bowl loss made them that much hungrier. With that thought in mind – I am thinking upgrade now.

And that player to upgrade to now is Johnathan Cyprien. Cyprien is a reckless player that can probably be coached into playing within himself. He may not be taken in the first round, but he will not get past the first few picks of the second round.

With the 31st selection the San Francisco 49ers pick Johnathan Cyprien S Florida International.
