Roger Ebert Publishes His First Film Review In The Chicago Sun-Times-This Day 1967

Film critic Roger Ebert published his first film review in the Chicago Sun-Times on this day in 1967. Roger Ebert passed away just a few days ago at the age of 70. I always enjoyed watching Siskel and Ebert. I didn’t always agree with them but I always enjoyed the passion they had for movies. Those guys had great jobs, going to movies for a living. There is no question Roger Ebert loved what he did. I see a lot of people who seem to have no passion for much of anything. I always love seeing someone who is passionate about things, Roger Ebert was always excited about the movies. There were many movies over the years I saw and loved because of his reviews. One that immediately comes to mind is “My Dinner With Andre” A movie that consisted of two men sitting and talking over dinner. Just two men talking for a couple hours. I watch that movie every couple years and always get something new out of it. Thanks Roger.

  1. As a young man with a scimpy budget, I appreciated Siskel & Ebert,’s takes on films. Ebert turned out to be passionate about many aspects of life and life itself.

    • I also admire his grit and determination while facing his illness. He never gave up until the end and he stayed active!
