2013 Mock Draft – Pick 13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Part of the fun of this is to log onto the site and see who Hans has picked. Part of the frustration of this is to log onto this site and see who Hans has picked. He and I have disagreed on a few things, but overall I find no fault with his logic behind the picks. Which makes this pick an absolute gift.

The Bucs have DESPERATE need for a corner. I think that either on draft day or just before draft day that they make the trade with the NY Jets and get Darrelle Revis to address that need. In doing that however, it will cost them this pick. The Bucs, if they keep this pick, could go offense, as they need to get a speed receiver to help  Josh Freeman and help take some defenders out of the box for Doug Martin. Defense needs help, they need a corner, D Line help, and if there was a good inside backer available that could be a possibility. A few years ago some character issues that other teams were afraid of let Warren Sapp fall to the Bucs.

This year it is an abnormal medical report on Utah’s Star Lotulelei that allows him to fall to the Bucs here. Lotulelei has been cleared medically in the last week for his heart issue. Lotulelei is an absolute beast, and will be a tremendous run stuffer. He played all along the D Line at Utah and would be well versed anywhere. He probably will not last this long in the draft for a 3-4 defensive team. But, since he is here, and Hans has already savaged the market on corners, the Bucs will draft Star Lotulelei, DL Utah.

6’2″ 311. Quick off the line, Winner of the Morris Trophy as top defensive lineman in the Pac-12.

  1. I am a rabid Tampa Bay Bucs fan so i have been waiting for this pick. I agree with you that ‘Revis Island” maybe relocating to Tampa and not sure how I feel about that: Before he got hurt-Yes, all in…Now…don’t know. And as a fan, I am sorry that Aqib Talib could not work out his issues and stay with the Bucs or they would be free to address other needs with this pick.

  2. I may need to edit this post, because if what i saw in the rumor mill is true then the Bucs would not be trading this pick for Revis – they would be trading the 2014 first rounder. Which them being the Jets would make perfect sense.

@waynelaw – i still am not 100% sold on the new staff, but it is much better than Raheem was doing. I think if a couple of pieces can fall into place the Bucs should make a decent run into the playoffs. As long as they do not meet the Rams in the playoffs the have a chance.
