The Greatest Athlete To Wear #34 is Walter Payton the great running back from the Chicago Bears.
Picking a #34 is difficult a lot of great ones. Even picking the greatest #34 from Houston would be difficult. {Nolan Ryan/ Earl Campbell and Hakeem Olajuwan}
Notable #34’s- the greatest #34 in basketball is Shaquille O’Neal just edging Hakeem Olajuwan and Sir Charles Barkey aka The Round Mound of Rebound. Also in basketball- Ray Allen and Charles Oakley.
In baseball- Nolan Ryan is the greatest #34 followed by Kirby Puckett, Rollie Fingers, Dave “Smoke” Stewart and my personal favourite Fernando Valenzuela.
In football- other than Walter Payton we have Joe Perry one of the great running backs from the 1950’s. Bo Jackson one of the greatest athletes of all times, Earl Campbell who for 3 years was the best running back i’ve ever seen, Thurman Thomas, Hershel Walker, and Andy Russell from the Super Steelers teams.
There sure is a log jam at #34 a lot of greats. In the Houston debate I will have to go with Hakeem Olajuwan as the greatest #34 edging out Earl and Nolan.
The Greatest Athlete To Wear #34- I am going with Sir Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears. He would certainly be on the Mount Rushmore of Greatest Running Backs of All-Time. What a fantastic career he had. He is second on the all-time rushing yards list [but miles and miles greater than the leader Emmitt Smith} Payton was a lot of fun to watch and the results were there also. One of the most punishing running backs ever. He hit the defenders harder than they ever hit him.

this is probably one of the more contested debates. had bo jackson not gotten injured this debate is a bit different.
thats a pretty crazy amount of talent at 34 for houston.
Dissing Emmitt? Ah that’s just fighting words right there!!!! I’m not allowed to play anymore…. Nah just joking! Lots of love, Emily
