2013 American League Eastern Division Predictions.

This division is the most competitive division in baseball but I do not see a GREAT team this year in this division. I have seen every team here except for the Red Sox picked to win it.

1- Tampa Bay Rays- The Rays seem to always be changing their roster around but in recent years the results have been the same at the end of the year, they’ve had some pretty good results. I think the Rays will win around 90 games and win this division. Again, this is a highly competitive division but there isn’t a great team here. The two traditional powers-the Yankees and Red Sox are on the downswing. I don’t expect that will last very long when you consider the money the Yankees and Red Sox have at their disposal. The Rays have enough to win it.

2- Toronto Blue Jays- The Blue Jays are going all out to win. They acquired the Cy Young Award winner from the National League- R.J. Dickey and added any player from the Marlins worth having [save Stanton} They will be right up there with the Rays but I don’t know how well all the parts will fit. They will be in the race the entire year and could end up with a division or wild card.

3-Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles were the a pleasant surprise last season. I think they probably played over their heads and I think they will take a step back this year but who knows they could win this division if things fall right for them.

4-New York Yankees. Every day will be Old Timer’s Day at Yankee Stadium. I have seen predictions having the  Yankees winning the division but I don’t see how. This team is old and injured and the old timers who are healthy now- how long will they stay healthy? This will be the worst Yankee team in a long long time. I hate the Yankees so it’s fine with me!

5- Boston Red Sox. The division looks upside down. Shouldn’t it be Boston and New York at the top? The Red Sox are in a rebuilding mode. The Dodgers did them a great favor by taking their overprice underperforming players last year. They got rid of Bobby Valentine…so that’s all a plus. I figure the Red Sox will rebuild quickly but they will reside at the bottom of the division again this season.
