Article on Bears Head Coach Marc Trestman

i have followed the NFL for sometime; Mr. Postcard’s NFL fandom exceeds mine by a few years, but as long as he and i have been friends, we have commented to one another about coaching hires and other things that happen in the game. when Trestman was hired, this raised a few eyebrows in the NFL world, and the conversations between Hans and i wandered into the realm of how Trestman would fare. obviously, i do not know Coach Trestman at all. i know what has been written about him, and what his CV is.

when i found this article on new Bears coach Marc Trestman, i became a fan of his. this is the story now of a man that gets it. years ago he was a brilliant offensive mind, probably a bit abrasive, most definitely focused. our circumstances in life shape us. we can choose to continue to be how we are or were, or we can recognize that we can be better people.

this quote from the article is telling – “I’ve told them I wish I could have handled some of those situations better,” Trestman said. “I didn’t say it because I wanted to be liked, but because it was time to do that.”

this story resonates with me quite a bit. i know how i have been in the past. and i know that what has happened in my life over the last couple of years was of my own doing. i thought that i was well on my way, but it turned out that i was just a shallow, selfish man; not sure what triggered my epiphany, but it is so much more rewarding to help out a fellow person, rather than try to step on them to get your own way.

i will say this – life is WAY too short, and it is easy to mend fences. lets all take a step into being the bigger person – reach out to someone today.

i highly encourage everyone to read this article. i know that i have never cared to follow the Bears before, but I really want to see Coach Trestman fare well. now if he can just do something about jay cutler…
