Yellowstone National Park Is Established As The World’s First National Park

On this day 1872 Yellowstone National Park was established as the world’s first national park. The U.S. Congress passed the bill making Yellowstone a national park and POTUS U.S. Grant signed the bill into law. Most of Yellowstone National Park is located in Wyoming but it does extend into Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone National Park consists of 2, 219, 791 acres and receives over 3.3 million visitors a year. There is certainly something there for everyone.

  1. Yellowstone is remarkable. We saw a mother Grizzly with – count them – three cubs saunter across the road as we drove in, and knew it was going to be an eye opener. We last visited just after the big fire and it was still beautiful.

  2. I was lucky to play host to my British friend as we visited Yellowstone. He was bowled over. Amazingly, there was a college student from his part of London working as a waitress at one of the restaurants. Personally, I’ve visited this park five times so far.
