On this day in 1990 Nelson Mandela was released from Victor Verster Prison outside of Cape Town, South Africa after spending 27 years as a political prisoner. The late 1980’s-early 1990’s were full of change. 1989 alone was one of the most revolutionary of years. The Berlin Wall falls in November 1989 and just two months later Nelson Mandela is released. That was one of those events you see and never forget. The world was changing.
