The greatest athlete to wear #87- Pittsburgh Penguins hockey star Sidney Crosby.
Notable #87’s- Willie Davis the great Hall of Fame defensive end for the Green Bay Packers during the Lombardi Dynasty. Hall of Fame Oakland Raider tight end Dave Casper, New England tight end Ben Coates, Denver Bronco wide receiver Ed McCaffrey. Dwight Clark of the San Francisco 49ers who made “The Catch” that ended the Cowboys years of dominance in the NFC and began the 49ers great run in the 1980’s. Atlanta Falcon defensive end Claude Humphrey and Bill Carpenter who played at Army in the 1950’s- turned down an NFL career for a career in the military and rose to the rank of general.
The greatest #87 Sidney Crosby is only 25 years old. He is in his 8th season with the Penguins. Crosby was the NHL MVP in 2007, led the league in goals 2010 and led the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Championship in 2009. The last couple seasons have been plagued by injuries but he is back on the ice this year and seemingly healthy.
