I think I will be keeping my day job, at least when it comes to predicting NFL season records before the season. I will give myself a C+. I did get 4 of the 6 playoff teams correct, and 2 of the 4 division winners correct, but on the order of finish I did not perform well, and the ones I missed on, unfortunately I missed on my a large margin.
NFC East – none correct, no playoff team correct.
I had this division NYG, PHI, DAL, WAS. Washington overachieved, everyone else was not good, and Philly made a coaching change.
NFC North – no correct records, 1 of 2 playoff teams correct.
GB, DET, CHI, MIN was my order. Detroit was bad, Chicago was decent, but failed to make the playoffs and fired the coach. Minnesota definitely overachieved, and Green Bay was Green Bay.
NFC South – 2 correct records, 1 playoff team correct.
I had this NOS, ATL, TB, CAR. Sean Payton should be coach of the year since we saw how much of a difference he makes to the Saints. ATL was the class of the division, NOS was not good, nailed the TB and CAR records at 7-9.
NFC West – no correct records, 2 of 2 playoff teams. Correct order of finish 1-4
I had this SF, SEA, STL, AZ. SF just lost the super bowl, SEA was moments from a third go around with SF in the playoffs, STL was almost .500 and the Cards were 4-0 and then went into the tank.
Hans Postcard will review his AFC predictions in the coming days, given his track record in beating me in the prediction games, I am sure that he fared much better than I did.
This post will fold the Maddux tent for football for now. We will most likely have a short encounter around the draft time (where we should hear these words from Roger Goodell – With the first pick of the 2013 NFL Draft – the Kansas City Chiefs select……Luke Joeckel, tackle, Texas A&M, but for now the tent will be folded up and we will cruise away into the night.
Thank you for all of the likes and comments throughout the year – I am looking forward to improving for next season.
I would have liked to see Seattle take on my Niners at the Super Bowl this year. An old co-worker is from Seattle so is a fan. I’m a Bay Area native so I’m a lifer for SF. It would have been a fun bowl game to watch with my friend.
