Astronauts Grissom/White/Chaffee Killed In Fire During Test This Day 1967

On this day in 1967 Astronauts Gus Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee were killed in a cabin fire during a  launch test of their Apollo 1 spacecraft at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The manned phase of the Apollo program would be put on hold for 20 months while they corrected the problems that caused the fire.
