On this day in 1924 the first Winter Olympic Games opened in the French Alps at Chamonix, France. The Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics were held during the same year up until the 1990’s when they started alternating them every two years. A good idea. The next Winter Olympics is just a year away! The XXII Winter Games will be held in Sochi, Russia from February 7th to February 23th,2014.
