The great Sam Cooke was born on this day 1931. Sam Cooke was one of the greatest singers ever. Possibly his greatest song was “A Change Is Gonna Come” which was released after his death in 1964. Sam Cooke was shot and killed during a dispute with a hotel manager in Los Angeles. At the time Cooke was ruled to have been drunk and distressed and the case was ruled as justifiable homicide. The circumstances of his death have since been questioned. Cooke was only 33 years old. Sam Cooke is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone Magazine in 2008 named him the 4th greatest singer of all time.
