Finalists Announced For The Pro Football Hall Of Fame Announced- Who Would I Vote For/ Who Will Get In This Year?

A couple of days ago they announced the final cut down for this years Pro Football Hall of Fame ballot. 15 modern era players/executives are on the list and 2 in the seniors category. Up to 5ive can go in from the modern era and the 2 senior candidates can also go in. Here are the 15 from the modern era- Larry Allen-guard-Dallas/ Jonathan Ogden-tackle-Baltimore/ Warren Sapp-nose tackle Tampa Bay/ Jerome Bettis-running back-Steelers/ wide receivers Tim Brown-Raiders/ Andre Reed- Bills/ Cris Carter-Vikings/Will Shields-guard-Chiefs/ Charles Haley-defensive end SF and Dallas/ Kevin Greene- linebacker for a few teams/ Aeneas Williams-cornerback-Arizona/Michael Strahan-Defensive End-Giants Bill Parcells-head coach for a few teams/ Ed Debartalo 49ers owner/ Art Modell- Browns-Ravens owner. The two senior candidates are Curly Culp a nose tackle KC and Houston and Dave Robinson-linebacker-Packers and Redskins.

Who would I vote for? The two senior candidates and looking at the 15 from the modern era they are all outstanding candidates there is not one NO BRAINER- someone who just stands out from the rest. I think all 15 of those guys are all deserving although I would never let Art Modell into the Hall of Fame. If I could vote the 5ive I would vote for this year are Jerome Bettis [the only candidate from the offensive backfield}  Will Shields, Cris Carter,Larry Allen andCharles Haley.

Who will the voters vote in? I have no idea. I could see a case being made for all these people and again not one of them to me stands out like say if a Joe Montana/John Elway/ Barry Sanders type who just automatically goes in. There will be new inductees it won’t be like the recent Baseball Hall of Fame bad joke.

  1. As you and i have discussed – since modell is now dead he is virtually a shoe-in. all of the candidates are worthy of inclusion. i do not see eddie debartolo getting in.
