Former Steelers Head Coach Chuck Noll-81 today. Noll was pretty even tempered but you didn’t want to piss him off. Jerry Glanville did one afternoon in 1987.
Classic showdown between Noll and Glanville. Glanville was new to the league and Noll believed [and so did many others} that Glanville had his Oilers trying to go out and hurt opposing players with dirty hits.
I had my own Chuck Noll moment a few years ago. I certainly wasn’t thinking of it at the time but it must have been somewhere in my head running around. A coach was running the score up on my team. They were up by 30 points and still had their starting line up in against my scrubs and they were pressing against us until 30 seconds to go in the game. At the end when we did the customary handshakes there was no way I was going to let it go without saying something. I said what I had to say. About 5ive minutes later after I’d cooled down a little bit my brother who was at the game came up and said ” I could tell late in that game that you were going to have something to say, you looked like Chuck Noll going at Jerry Glanville when you were shaking hands and pointing at that coach.” I had to laugh I hadn’t thought of that Noll/Glanville clash in years.
