
Bobby Hull- “The Golden Jet” turns 74 today. Bobby Hull is one of the greatest players in hockey history, possibly the greatest left winger in history. His slapshot was feared by goalies around the world. He played 23 years in the NHL and WHA. He is most famous for playing with the Chicago Blackhawks from 1957-72. He then jumped to the WHA and played for the Winnipeg Jets from 1972-79 before playing his last season with Hartford Whalers. During his career in the NHL he scored 603 goals in the WHA he had 303. He won 3 Art Ross Trophies as NHL’s leading scorer and won 2 Hart Trophies as NHL MVP. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.
Bobby’s older brother Dennis Hull played with him for eight seasons with the Blackhawks. Bobby’s son Brett was also a superstar in the NHL. He finished his career as the third leading goal scorer in NHL history. They are the only father-son combination to win the Hart and Lady Byng Trophy. The only father-son to score 50 goals in a season and have more than 600 career NHL goals.
