Two of The Monkees were born on this day- Michael Nesmith turns 70 today and the late Davy Jones was born 67 years ago. The Monkees television series lasted two seasons and ran for 58 episodes from September 1966 until March of 1968. Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork were the other two Monkees. The Monkees had a dozen Top 40 hits in America including three #1’s- “Last Train To Clarksville”, “I’m A Believer”, and “Daydream Believer” Their first 4 albums went to #1. All you need is one of their “Best Of” cd’s. The Monkees are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Considering some of the lame acts that have made the Hall of Fame I’d think they are probably deserving.
