Vice-President John C. Calhoun Resigns From Office- This Day 1832

On this day in 1832 Vice-President John C. Calhoun resigned to run for the United States Senate in South Carolina. He would be the first of two Vice-Presidents to resign from office. The other Vice-President to resign was Spiro Agnew in 1973. Agnew resigned after being charged in a bribery case.

Calhoun was one scary looking dude by the way.
