Rod Serling- “The Twilight Zone” Born This Day 1924

Rod Serling who is best remembered as the mastermind of “The Twilight Zone” television show was born on this day in 1924. “The Twilight Zone” was on television for 5ive seasons/156 episodes, Serling wrote 92 of the episodes. Serling was a screenwriter, novelist, television producer and narrator. When “The Twilight Zone” was cancelled he didn’t fight it even though it was still doing well in the ratings. In 1969 he started “Night Gallery” which lasted until 1973. It wasn’t as successful as the iconic “The Twilight Zone” was. Serling was a heavy smoker and an intense character. His family had a history of heart problems. Serling died in 1975 at age 50 of a heart attack.
