Eugene Record- Singer For The Chi-Lites -Born This Day 1940

Eugene Record who was the lead singer for the Chi-Lites was born this day 1940. The Chi-Lites were a soul group out of Chicago who had a few huge hits in the early 1970’s. They had 5 songs hit the Top 40 on the Billboard pop charts. “OH Girl” was their biggest hit reaching #1 in 1971. “Have You Seen Her” was a #3 hit the year before. One of my favourite Chi-Lites songs didn’t even reach the Top 40 “The Coldest Days Of My Life”

Eugene Record was their lead singer and primary songwriter. He left the Chi-Lites in the mid-70s for a solo career. Eugene Record died in 2005 at the age of 64.
