The classic holiday movie starring James Stewart [and all around great movie} “It’s A Wonderful Life” was first released on this day in 1946.  The movie was directed by the great Frank Capra and was based on the short story “The Greatest Gift” by Philip Van Doren Stern. This movie is on my Mt. Rushmore of favourite movies. It has always been a movie I turn to -not around Christmas but when I am feeling a little down. It always makes me feel a little better. {Listening to The Beatles always makes me feel a little better too}  James Stewart is my all-time favourite actor.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” was nominated for six Academy Awards. James Stewart said that this was his favourite movie of the ones he made.
