Jim Leyland turns 68 today. My favourite Jim Leyland moment was in spring training 1991 when he ripped Barry Bonds a new one. The great thing was Barry Bonds was the best player in baseball but in Pittsburgh Jim Leyland ruled over him. If Barry had gone to management and said “I can’t play for this guy” Barry Bonds would have gone, Leyland would have stayed.
