On this day in 1935 Bill Wilson, who would be the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous took his last drink and enters treatment for the last time. AA would be founded in 1935 by Bill W. {as Bill Wilson was known until after his death in 1971} and Dr. Bob {Dr. Bob Smith} in Akron, Ohio. Wilson and Smith developed the Twelve Step Program of spiritual and character development. The 12 Steps was introducted in 1946. Today AA has more than 2 million members. At the end of the 20th Century Time Magazine named Bill W. one of the 100 Most Important People of the Century.
