Deacon Jones was a member of the Los Angeles Rams great Fearsome Foursome [along with Merlin Olson, Lamar Lundy and Rosey Greer} Deacon Jones best years were with the Rams 1961-71. He finished his career with San Diego and Washington.

Deacon Jones was 6’5 272. His big move was the headslap which you can’t do anymore. They didn’t keep sack statistics at the start of his career, in 1967 he had unofficially 26 sacks and the next year 24. Pro Football Weekly has him with 194 1/2 sacks in his career. He was a 2 time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, an 8 time Pro Bowler. NFL.Com has Jones as the 15th greatest player in NFL history.
