Apologies for the 5-1 week last week. Had Christian Ponder not thrown 2 redzone INTs we would have been 6-0. I think that may have broken the blog, so lets celebrate the fact that we did not do that. Record for the year is now 33-38-1. Amazingly since we have skipped the Thursday night games we seem to be doing a lot better on the way to respectability. But we are not getting cute yet. Still would like to finish over .500 for the year. With teams starting to clinch playoff spots the potential for let ups grows. On to the picks.
Home team in all caps
kc at CLE -6.5 – going to go crazy here. I am sure that Hans will be sending the men in white coats to come and take me for evaluation for laying almost a TD with the clowns. I honestly cannot recall the last time that Cleveland won a game by 7 or more.
bal +2 at WAS – Washington is coming off a huge win on Monday night, Baltimore is coming off a loss to Charlie Batch who will be enrolled in AARP soon. Griffin is impressive, but hopefully John Harbaugh and Joe Flacco will remember that they have this really good running back on their team and will hand Ray Rice the ball in the 4th quarter.
atl at CAR +4.5 – Carolina plays in close games. A lot of people are piling on Cam Newton. I am as well because he will not hand off to a running back at the goal line. Since I have had Carolina running back all year in my fantasy football team, I bet that you could not guess that my fantasy teams were garbage as well.
chi at MIN +3 – the Bears are a bit beat up. Seattle played well in beating them in Chicago. For the second week I will be wagering on Ponder. This is where the average person bails out after not winning last week. Have to have no memory of the past.
dal at CIN -3 – going to lay the field goal here with the Bungles. This is more a wager against Dallas rather than on the Bungles. Dallas is brutal against the number in December, and I am not sure that after the Philly win last week, probably ready for a Tony Romo Interception Special.
ten +6.5 at IND – This is a gut call here. Indy should just hammer the Titans into oblivion, but again big win last week, I can see a let down, unless Chuckstrong shows up pregame. SIDEBAR here – I really despise cancer. Cancer has claimed some of my friends and family. Coach get well and please kick cancer’s butt.
det at GB -7 – Time for the Lions to fold up the tent and start getting ready for the draft. I think Rodgers carves up the Lions.
hou +4 at NE – this is probably a preview of the AFC title game, though the Peyton and Von Miller show in Denver may have something to say, but I like the Texans on the road here. I think Houston wins outright, they have the better defense though I think the Pats will score points.
As always you are probably better off fading my picks but who knows at this point. Have a great weekend and enjoy the games.
