On this day in 1969 Meredith Hunter a concert goer at The Rolling Stones concert at Altamont Speedway in California was killed by Hells Angels during the concert. The Rolling Stones hiring the Hells Angels as security has to be one of the dumbest ideas ever. The concert was organized by The Rolling Stones. 300,000 were in attendence. It was billed as a Woodstock West.

The artists that played, Santana, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Jefferson Airplane and Crosby, Stills and Nash. The Rolling Stones was the final act.

Meredith Hunter was 18 years old, some of the Hells Angels got involved in a scuffle with him when he tried to get onstage with other fans. He was stabbed to death after he drew a gun on the Hells Angels and then stomped on by several members of the Hells Angels.
