On this day in 1980 the English rock group Led Zeppelin officially disbanded. After the death of drummer John Bonham on September 25th of that year they wisely decided not to continue. Led Zeppelin was one of the largest and greatest acts of the 1970’s. On December 4th 1980 the remaining members released this press statement “We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend, and the deep sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were”-Led Zeppelin
