On this day in 1971 a hijacker by the name of D.B. Cooper parachuted from a Northeast Orient Airlines 727 into a raging thunderstorm over Washington State. The flight was going from Portland, Oregon to Seattle, Washington. He took with him $200,000 in ransom money. Who this man was and what fate he met remains a mystery 41 years later. There has been a lot of speculation but no solid answer to either question. Maybe this will be one of those unsolved mysteries that will remain unsolved forever.
