In one of the most famous endings in college football history. Doug Flutie hits his roommate Gerald Phelan in the end zone in the final seconds with a 48 yard touchdown pass to beat Miami 47-45. What a fantastic finish. Flutie was an exciting player to watch. Flutie on that play threw the ball about as far as he could throw it. I remember watching that game and I hated Miami, so that finish was alright with me. Boston College would finish 10-2 that season and finish 4th in the country. Flutie would be the first college quarterback to throw for 10,000 yards in a career.
In that game Phelan caught 11 passes from Flutie for 226 yards.
