20 years ago today -1992 a fire broke out in Windsor Castle badly damaging the castle. The castle suffered the most serious damage in the most historical parts of the building. Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castles in the world, one of the official residences of Queen Elizabeth II. Nine rooms were destroyed. Windsor Castle is located 30 miles away from London. It has been the home of the British monarchy for nearly 1000 years.
