On this day in 1977 Anwar Sadat the President of Egypt became the first Arab leader to officially visit Israel. He met with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and spoke before the Knesset in Jerusalem. Sadat was a man before his time. Sadat would eventually sign a peace treaty with Israel. He was certainly a brave man. It would end up costing him his life a few years later.
