Duane Allman who was one of the greatest guitarists in rock history was born on this day 1946. Sadly, Allman’s life ended way to short. He was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24 in 1971. He was co-founder and leader of the Allman Brothers Band. In a 2003 poll Allman was ranked just behind Jimi Hendrix in a Rolling Stone Magazine of greatest guitarists. Duane Allman’s nickname was “Skydog”
