My favourite movie director Martin Scorsese turns 70 today. Marty Scorsese is considered to be one of the greatest directors of all times. The list of his great films seem endless. His films have received 75 Academy Award nominations, winning 20 Oscar’s. He should have won more. His recent movies have been more awarded than his classic movies I think simply because he was passed over in the earlier days so they are making it up to him. Scorsese had directed 22 movies in his career. My favourites are Taxi Driver [one of my Mt. Rushmore movies} Raging Bull-the greatest sports movie ever,  The King of Comedy, Mean Streets, Goodfellas, The Last Temptation of Christ, and The Departed. I don’t think Scorsese has directed a movie that wasn’t worth watching.

The great Robert DeNiro has appeared in eight of Scorsese’s films, some of the best work in DeNiro’s career has been with Scorsese. The next Scorsese film will be The Wolf of Wall Street” starring Leo DiCaprio. DiCaprio has been in 5 of the past 6 Scorsese films.
