Bluesman Hubert Sumlin Born This Day 1931

Hubert Sumlin one of the great blues guitarists of all time was born on this day 1931. Sumlin’s guitar playing was a key to the sound of the great Howlin’ Wolf’s recordings. Rolling Stone Magazine listed Sumlin as the 43rd greatest guitarist of all times. Sumlin was the guitarist for Howlin’ Wolf from the mid 1950’s until the great Wolf’s death in the mid 1970’s and was the key member of his band. Hubert Sumlin was nominated for four Grammy Awards during his career. After Howlin Wolf’s death he released a number of solo albums. Hubert Sumlin died at the age of 80 in 2011. Mick Jaggar and Keith Richard payed for Sumlin’s funeral. Hubert Sumlin definitely an unsung hero of the blues/rock and roll.
