Actor Burgess Meredith was born on this day in 1907. He is probably best known by modern audiences for his role as Rocky Balboa’s trainer Mickey Goodmill in the first three Rocky movies. He was excellent in those films, the best actor far and a way in those films. He started his movie career back in the 1930’s. He was nominated for best supporting actor in several movies “The Day of the Locust” and “Rocky”
One of my favourite roles Meridith was in was an episode of “The Twilight Zone” where he plays a bank teller who only wants to be left alone to read his books. My favourite episode of “The Twilight Zone” I can sure relate to that feeling. He was also famous for his role as The Penguin in the Batman television series in the 1960’s.
Burgess Meredith died in 2007 at the age of 89.
