I love David McCullough. McCullough is one of those fellows who has written wonderful, enlightening books and given fascinating interviews.
He and Morley Safer of 60 Minutes sat down for a lengthy talk about elections and American history. I particularly like one of the headlines on CBSNews.com, “Tough campaign? Much worse in 1800”. I don’t necessarily agree with this view. It was a rough year for Mitt Romney, first from his Republican counterparts and then Mr. Obama and his Chicago friends.
McCullough noted the nastiness of the Adams-Jefferson campaign in 1800, claiming it was much worse then than it is now. I haven’t watched part one yet and part two is apparently airing this coming Sunday.
