On this day in 1967 the first issue of Rolling Stone Magazine was published. Beatle John Lennon was on the cover of the first issue of “Rolling Stone.” For a period of time Rolling Stone was must read stuff but its been pretty worthless for a few decades now. It gets more pathetic as time goes on. The magazine is now all style over substance.

The magazine was named for the Muddy Waters song “Rollin Stone”

The most notable figure to write for Rolling Stone was the immortal Hunter S. Thompson in the 1970’s. He was their political writer.
