Singer-songwriter Minnie Riperton was born on this day in 1947. Riperton had one hit and it was a huge one “Lovin’ You” went to the top of the charts in 1975. Sadly Riperton died of breast cancer at the age of 31 in 1979.

We had many, many requests to play this song on the air when I was a radio newbie. Us deejays got mighty sick of the song and the twittering bird sound effects. Just a tad bit maudlin. It took me a long time to regain an appreciation of sorts for the tune. 🙂
