On this day in 1922 Howard Carter an English archaeologist and his workmen discovered a step that led to the tomb of old King Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. Carter and Lord Carnavon entered the interior chambers of the tomb and found them intact. Inside the coffin was the boy king Tutankhamen who had been preserved for over 3000 years.
