32 years ago today was the 1980 Presidential Election. I remember it well for a few reasons. It was the first time I was old enough to vote. I vote every election but there have been only two times I cast my vote with enthusiasm in 1980 and 1984. Since then it has been a lesser of two evils vote.

I also remember getting ready for a long election night and being pleasantly shocked when they called it for Dutch immediately. No one was expecting a landslide going into Election Day. A week before Carter was up in the polls over him.

Another memory is staying up late and the focus being on the U.S. Senate races and all the old veterans on the Democrat side being sent packing. My favourite election night.
